Deal, draw a card taking turns, knock if your deadwood count is less than or equal to 10 points, and keep laying off till your opponent knocks at their turn or goes Gin. At the end of a play, each player counts their deadwood cards, and the difference between the two counts becomes the knocker’s score. There are certain exceptional situations under which, even if you knock, your opponent scores the difference between the counts plus a 25 bonus.
A game gets over when a player’s cumulative score reaches 100 points or more. Named Line Bonus, each player adds 25 points for every round they win.
Gin 200 follows the same rules but played to 200 points. In Straight Gin, players cannot knock and have to continue playing till one of them goes Gin. The best of 7 hands is considered the winner. Hollywood Gin also follows the same rules but with a twist.
