There is nothing more annoying than having to carry around a DVD just so you can watch a movie while on the road to your vacation destination. Maybe you just want accessibility to a movie that you now own. Once you’ve made the purchase, you have every right to have that movie accessible from any device, so you can watch it without requiring a player.
MacX DVD Ripper Pro is unlike all the other DVD ripping utilities in many ways.
First, this app is superbly easy to use. I can’t say that enough, because for someone who hates to dig around an app figure things out, this app is a boon. It easily slips onto you Mac and is extremely intuitive. You don’t have to dig around and you don’t have to read. MacX is direct and to the point. It gets you to the functions you need immediately, without making you go through lots of screens and setup, like so many other apps do.
It cleverly has built in the features required to bypass various encryptions and protections put in place to prevent you from really owning your movie. If you want to delve in a bit deeper to tweak your rips, you can do so, but it’s all up to you. You can control the encoding process, trim videos, crop images and merge titles.
You can even extract favorite scenes and clips from movies you’ve made or saved and post them on your favorite social media sites. This app can rip all types of DVDs – movies, TV series, workouts, non UDF, damaged etc., The updated version 5.5.0 rips at the speed of 250-320 FPS – 5X faster than the old version.
Let’s get down to the nitty gritty now. To rip a DVD, you simply insert it into the drive and load it by clicking the DVD Button. The application itself is already packed with profiles to help you create copies that can play on iPads and iPhones, but you can set up other configurations for other destinations, such as Android devices, Windows phones and tables, and Blackberries.
For higher quality copies, you can move the settings to copy at a slower speed, ensuring that all the necessary data is captured. Again, it’s all up to you how you want to make the copy.
Once you have selected the video to copy, you click on Run and let the app do its magic. It has built in decryption and transcoding that takes from the DVD and saves what you ask for, based on all of the settings you have chosen. Keep in mind that the app works as well as the tools it has at its disposal, meaning the processors in your machine. In any case, you are running this on a Mac, so you know it will go quickly.
For folks who are bit more daring and know more about transcoding, you can take that deep dive and work on codecs to tweak minute details of your video download, like adjusting frame rates, resolutions and bit rates.
Not much is missing from this app. I would make it a bit cleaner looking for users who are not used to using these types of apps, but other than that, once you’ve used MacX DVD Ripper Pro a few times, it is incredibly easy to use and becomes second nature.
If you are looking for an easy to use app to copy DVDs and keep them forever, download MacX DVD Ripper Pro today – don’t delay.
