Not all notes can be typed. There are many times when you need to quickly sketch a diagram to capture a concept, outline a hierarchy with a top-down block diagram, include images with text and more. In those moments, it’s always nice to be able to handwrite. If you use an iPad to take notes, then you need a reliable app that makes it easier to take those notes, clean them put and save them for later access and for sharing. MyScript by Nebo is just one of those apps. While there are several out there, we found MyScript to be pretty handy and efficient to use.
To start, MyScript’s ability to recognize handwritten notes is precise. It will take all your handwritten notes, whether in cursive or not, and will convert it to text. The same goes for diagrams. If you’ve quickly sketched a flowchart or an organization chart or some kind of block diagram, it will convert it and clean it up a bit. Once the conversions are complete, you can always go in and edit as you please to fix placement of items, add or change text, coloring, etc. Edits can be done using the built-in keyboard or you can use an external keyboard, too.
Notes that contain only text can be converted into Word files, plain text, PDFs or HTML files for direct viewing in a browser. Diagrams and images can be converted into PowerPoint files or image files that can be directly in apps that require images.
Being able to save these notes as files is not enough. You need to be able to organize them in a way that you can find them when you need them. MyScript supports the use of Notebooks to group your notes files. In addition to this, the search function does a thorough job of find keywords in all of your files, whether they were typed up or handwritten, which means it works on handwritten files before they are converted.
Sharing files is also crucial. Most of your notes will probably have content that someone else needs to see. MyScript makes is very easy to share directly with other users and you can even upload content to the Cloud, as it supports iCloud, Dropbox and Google Drive. You can even publish to the Nebo website for sharing with specific recipients.
What would be awesome would be the ability to email files to other users or maybe even print from within the app.
As an app that allows users to take notes in whatever mode works best for each situation and save them, MyScript provides full functionality and precision. Recognizing handwritten script has come a long way but it still takes a strong algorithm to get it right. MyScript provides that functionality, which saves users time and allows for easy capture of correct information, eliminating the need to edit and fix.
If you are looking for a note-taking app that supports all types of input, I highly recommend giving MyScript a try.
