Passwords Keeper – Never Lose Access to Your Accounts

Passwords Keeper app review

With almost everything we do involving an app or some kind of account, it’s no wonder we’ve taxed our brains with all the data that needs to be retained in order to gain access to these accounts. You could use the same password across all accounts, but you know you are not supposed to. There are lots of apps out there that take care of the password retainment for you, but you have to trust them, and they have to be easy to use.

Passwords Keeper is just one such app.

Remember all of those times when you just couldn’t remember exactly what your password was, you tried a few options, only to lock yourself out? It’s not easy getting back in. You may even be in a situation where you can’t even remember the username. That’s when you know you are really hosed.

Passwords Keeper can keep all of this information for you and keep it safely and securely. It’s a password management system that takes the essential information needed to access an account and saves it in a way where the app itself does not know the password. It does this by using encryption. Your device has the decryption code, so when you go to use the information stored by Passwords Keeper, it is converted into its true form and used. Your usernames and passwords are visible only by you, not the app, and certainly not prying eyes.

All you have to do is download the app and select the subscription level you want. I recommend starting off with the 30-day to see if it’s something you really need. The app also offers a 1-year and an unlimited subscription, as well.

Once you have logistics squared away, all you do is tap on the plus sign and start adding accounts. Recognizing accounts is super easy too, because the app supports over 340 different popular icons, so you can spot your accounts quickly. Setup includes adding the username, password and you can even add an URL if one exists.

Overall usability is intuitive. There’s not a whole lot you need to know technology-wise in order to use this app. To add to the already high level of security, you can add a 6-digit PIN lock, Touch ID and Face ID, so you know that only you can get into the app before gaining access to your accounts.

It works simply like this – you’ve got access to your accounts listed in the app. It takes a few levels of security to get to them, and once you do, you simply tap the link to the account you want to log in to and the Passwords Keeper does the rest. Before you know it, you have your app open right before your eyes.

Everything you set up in Passwords Keeper is saved in iCloud or iTunes, so you never lose your “setup”. Please note that it’s not saving your actual passwords, but rather, all the encrypted information it creates to provide automatic access to your accounts. If a hacker tries to get into your accounts, you will be alerted by Passwords Keeper of any attempts. This would be a good time to change passwords.

I would like to see more variety of the types of subscriptions offered. The description of the app talks about paying for a Premium subscription, but there is no mention of a Basic subscription, which would be nice to start off with.
