ReceiptFriend – Keep It Together with a Receipt Organization App

Nothing’s worse than going to the store to return something and not having your receipt on hand. You rummage through your pockets and bags – and nothing. Now, with ReceiptFriend you won’t need to worry about where you put that precious receipt.

ReceiptFriend is an app that’s free to download and easy to use. It helps you save your receipts in an organized way, so you don’t have to keep track of the paper copies. Once you’ve downloaded the app you’ll be asked to setup a few things. All you need to provide is a password, so you can access your backups from the Cloud. Passwords mean your information is protected.

If you like customizing your apps, now would be a good time to so do. If you venture into the Configure area of the app, you can enter a credit card, bank name and set up a currency. The default is USD, but you can select from a huge list of other currencies, making this a globally useful app. What’s important to note here is that the bank information and credit card information are both optional, which is an important feature for many who want to avoid identity theft.

Since the app is storing a lot of information, I highly recommend performing backups of the app. This will save everything you entered in the app, so if your phone ever dies or you decide to change phones, you can always restore your entire app profile and data using the last saved backup. You will need to remember your password you set up.

Once you have all your details setup and in place, all you do from the main screen is add a receipt. Tap on the plus sign and either take a picture of the receipt or upload it from your photo album. Enter details about the receipt like date, amount and number of items. Once these are entered, they become values on which you can order and search for receipts.

Did I mention that looking for receipts becomes super easy because you’ve got them saved digitally? Use the power of an app to find what you are looking for. If you are looking for a receipt from Home Depot for something you purchased two weeks ago, all you do is perform a search for “Home Depot” or even a date. You could even order the entered receipts by date and scroll through them.

The main screen also shows you the total number of receipts you’ve got stored and the list. This app has an in-app purchase option to use ReceiptFriend+ which has even more functionality, of which I am not sure because there were few details on their website.

Overall the idea and the app are great. I like the fact that you can easily find receipts when you need them. The record for the receipt would save, but I was unable to enter precise information about it, to support easier searches and retrievability.

Hopefully, that gets fixed in the next update. Until then, I highly recommend downloading ReceiptFriend if you are looking for an easier way to keep your receipts organized.
