Text Shortcuts – Send Messages and Information Instantaneously

Text Shortcuts app

Most of us can type pretty fast on our devices, but if you are looking for a way to send messages faster or just make it more convenient to simply tap and transmit a message Text Shortcuts is the app that lets you. Applications can vary. You may be driving or busy with something else and simply don’t have the time to type a message. Text Shortcuts lets you choose from a variety of saved messages, each represented by its own button.

Each button is considered a shortcut. You can create shortcuts for text message, hashtags, emojis, notes and links, making the app customizable. Shortcut creation is simple and easy to manage. For each type of shortcut all you do create a new shortcut and enter the information as needed.

Shortcuts for Text messages and for hashtags can be “grouped” so you don’t see a ton on the main menu, but rather, can select a grouping and then select your specific item. The items become available to you from the Shortcuts keyboard or from the Text Shortcuts app. You can have up to 5 Text message heading/groups and up to 5 color categories for hashtags.

For Links, you can save articles and social media posts. You can even save documents from cloud repositories like Dropbox and Google Docs. These can then be shared easily from your keyboard.

The app itself can be used from multiple social media applications. You can use it in Instagram, Facebook, messaging and more. Anywhere you can type, you can use Text Shortcuts. In a nutshell, this app lets you identify phrases, hashtags, groups of people you tag, etc. and allows you to create shortcuts to them so you don’t have to type them every single time.

These shortcuts will be accessible from all iOS devices as long as you’ve logged into the same Apple ID. Aside from being a time saver, Text Shortcuts can keep you safe. Being able to send out a quick message without having to type it all up can prevent all sorts of distractions.

Being a tool to create quick shortcuts, there’s no magic behind the app, but it does provide a great deal of value. Now, you don’t have to worry about not being able to respond to urgent text messages just because you are driving. One tap will let others know you got their message. I would like to see more categories and groupings to the shortcuts. A maximum of 5 seems a bit sparse.

Text Shortcuts will be my go-to for sending those commonly used messages and responses, so I don’t have to actually type a thing. I haven’t delved deep into using the Link shortcuts, but I’m pretty sure it will come in handy for work messaging and collaborations amongst teams.
