Rocket VPN – Surf the Net Safely

rocket vpn app

People are watching. If you are on the internet, you don’t know who the observers or trackers are, but know that what you think is safe, may not be. Every time you visit the coffee shop and use the “free” WiFi, is it really free, or are you paying with loss of privacy?

Most casual internet users don’t really know what software specialists know. Data traveling the internet is fair game for anyone to look at. That is where VPN comes in.

What does it stand for? Virtual Private Network. How do you get one? You download Rocket VPN on your device.

Rocket VPN allows you to create your very own network that you alone can use with safety and security. It allows you to protect your online identity, lets you see services that may be banned in your current location, and keeps the data you send and receive, protected.

I was not so sure about needing a VPN. I’d heard so many stories of folks having a tough time setting one up on their iPhone; but, then I heard about Rocket VPN. This app is not like the other VPN apps. It is much easier to setup and manage. In a nutshell, it’s made for folks who are not computer geeks.

Upon installing the app, you’ll be asked to provide some basic information. You will want to allow the app permissions to do what it needs to do. You will also select the location from which you will be accessing the internet.

After successfully establishing a connection, you will see a key icon in your status bar – Rocket VPN is active.

You would think that because this app is a fairly technical one, it’s not a game or a shopping app, that the interface would be complex and hard to read. That is not the case. Rocket VPN uses a great set of colors and layouts that make it so easy to set up what you need to and to navigate through the app.

What is really cool is that all you really need to control your connections and see your status is on the main screen.

If you need to see details on data usage, scroll down the main screen to find it and your current location. You get 30MB of free data per month, which does not rollover. If you need to unblock and launch apps from a particular VPN, there is a separate screen from which to do that.

Keep in mind that the download is free. But to actually use the VPN service, you will need to sign up for a subscription. It costs $3.99/month or $23.99 for the year – an extremely small price to pay for a great deal of security.

Now, here is the real kicker for folks who travel. Rocket VPN offers VPN setup from virtual locations globally, including the United Kingdom, France, Netherlands, Germany, Japan, Sweden, and Singapore.

While it outranks its competitors, Rocket VPN has its limitations. If you are in the middle of a subscription, then you cannot terminate it. You have to let it go to the end of its term before you can stop.

Not sure why you would want to do that. This VPN app was really easy for me to use and I felt really good about the fact that I could use the internet safely, without the threat of anyone hacking my connection and stealing my identity.
