Streaming is the way of the future when it comes to media consumption. While many hold tight to their iPods, radios and cable or satellite services, but if you really want to cut yourself loose from restrictive rules and high costs, streaming gets you there. The only issue with streaming is that there are so many choices. You sometimes find yourself signing up for several packages in an attempt to get all the content you want, and this can become a maintenance nightmare – so many accounts to manage, so many passwords to remember.

Now, you can eliminate the account management headache by downloading one app. This app is called Streamport and it offers access to a wide variety of streaming services, bundled into what they call channels. There are six channels to choose from, and you can pick what works best for you: ArkMusic, ArkMedia, Keller Pack, Outdoor Sport Channel Pack and the Ananda Pack.

The app is free to download; you only pay for the channels you want to subscribe to, and this is all done from within the app. Once you sign up, you get access to over 5,000 downloads that you view on your schedule. Any content that streams on a service you’ve subscribed to will be available in rerun mode for seven days, providing even more accessibility to your favorite shows and sports events.

Sign up is easy. All you need is one of the following: an email account, a Gmail account or a Facebook account. Needless to say, if you sign using Facebook or Gmail, you can easily incorporate their native services into your use Streamport.

Once you’ve got your account set up and you’ve searched the channels to see which ones offer the streaming services you want, you select on the channel and purchase it. Subscriptions and payments are then handled completely through the app. You don’t have to create individual accounts for each service. Streamport is also always on the lookout for new services to add to their channels, so their offering is always changing to keep up with user demands.

You can use Streamport from your desktop, mobile devices, smart TVs and even cast it through Chromecast, making it super accessible and flexible. Much of the streaming seems to be European based, so for those of you not in Europe, this app can become a portal into a cultural experience you otherwise would never get exposure to.

I found it fairly easy to navigate throughout the entire app, but found it a bit cluttered, with too many visuals on some of the screens (i.e. a patterned background making it hard to see the icons).

This is something that can be easily fixed and overcome. As it stands, Streamport provides great value and easy accessibility to content without the hassle of multiple accounts.
