Deep Defence – Simple Fun in a Tank Defense Game

If you like a good defense game, then Deep Defence is the game to download. Simple by design, but big on entertainment, Deep Defence puts you in the driver’s seat of a heavily armored tank, armed with plenty of weaponry.

The game itself is not super complicated. Download it for free and you will see the main menu which allows you to set your preferences easily. This includes notifications, sounds and the ability to make in-app purchases.

Deep Defence also links to the other players through Game Center, so you can even play with others that you know, provided you know their gaming ids. The other benefit to Game Center is that you can see how well you do against others, stepping up the competitive fervor if you wish.

When I first started playing, I fumbled a bit with the controls. The stage is a battlefield littered with blown up tanks, trees, and terrain. At the bottom left of the screen is a dial that shows four arrows, similar to a compass. One points up, one down, one to the left, and one to the right. I soon figured out that by moving my finger over and around the circle, my tank would then move around the battlefield.

Deep Defence

Emanating from my tank was a red dotted line. I assume this outlined the path of my missiles when I fired. So, then I tried to see how to move this part of my tank, and never quite got the hang of it. My tank would move where I wanted it to, but the missile portion just sort of rotated on its own in a random fashion.

This meant I was able to hit a few targeted tanks, but oftentimes, I was left with some heavy damage to myself, unable to defend in the nick of time.

Nonetheless, I forged forward and continued play. Apparently I was good enough to at least get past the initial stage.

Every time you fire a missile, there’s your tank will experience downtime to allow for a missile reload, making the game play somewhat realistic. Just be careful about where you are so you can safely reload without someone sneaking up behind you.

After playing for a while I was able to control my tank better and was able to take down more enemy tanks, which helped me rack up more ammo and strength.

The only small downside to the game is the lack of instruction or background on what you are supposed to be doing. Now, I realize that if I am playing a tank defense game, I am most likely firing missile and trying to defend my turf. However, there was no explanation as to why you were there, if you need to get somewhere and what to do.

I guess for a simple game, it really doesn’t need a whole lot of story behind it. If you are looking for something mindless to do, then Deep Defence provides exactly that. A quick getaway that does not overtax you.

Textkraft – Consolidated Document Creation and Management

With today’s technology that dynamically moves with you, it’s only natural to have tools that you can take along that allow you to work and be productive, no matter where you are. Sure, there are lots of repository apps that let you perform all sorts of document management related functions from a variety of devices, keeping a single source copy of your product, so you have complete accessibility and you don’t have to wonder which is the latest copy.

The experts at Infovole have upped their offerings with a version of Textkraft that you can put in your pocket, so working with documents becomes effortless and well managed. It’s a professional app that offers fully functional features that support document creation, editing, reading, and management.

For just $1.99, you get an app that not only gives you extensive access to fancy fonts, it leverages the functionality of features offered by several document management apps, so you can easily manage and work on documents for a project from one place.

The app itself is very easy to use and well laid out. When you first download the app, you will be taken to an introductory marketing screen that gives an overview of what the app is for. Once you get past that, you are taken to command center where you will see all of the main functions lined up as icons at the bottom of the screen:

Textkraft app

  • Plus sign: select this to create a new document. This immediately takes you to a blank screen ready for your scripting. Options for editing line the bottom of the screen, just above the keyboard.
  • Upload: allows you to upload your saved documents to a variety of destinations, such as iCloud, Dropbox, Box, Evernote, Google Drive, and more.
  • Grid icon: this allows you to view all the documents you have saved in the app, in a visually appealing way. Documents are easy to find and get to.
  • Screwdriver icon: this is your Tools and settings, where you can set your preferences. Things like iCloud connectivity, data maximums and more.

Textkraft is not new to the market; this new upgrade enhances the app with the following:

  • Share Extension that spans system-wide, allowing you to send selected text from any app to Textkraft without opening the app
  • HTML document import with text styles supported by Textkraft
  • Preservation of line breaks on device rotation

Not much can be said in terms of improvements to the current offering. I found I was able to create interesting notes and messages on the fly, taking advantage of unique font sets and formatting. I would say that the icons are slightly confusing and hard to decipher. I had to play around a bit to figure out what each one meant – could be a culture thing?

Nonetheless, Textkraft Pocket helped me consolidate several sources of documentation in a way that reduced time spent managing them across devices, clouds, and apps. I know for sure I cannot move forward without it.

Grand Gin Rummy – Class Card Game – Reinvented

If you are like me and you remember endless days of summer playing all sorts of card games to pass the time, then you most certainly remember playing Gin Rummy. Now, most kids of today may raise an eyebrow or two when hearing the name of the game, seeing that electronics have come to overtake our time. But imagine the fun to be had if you digitized the game and made it fun for all?

Grand Gin Rummy does just that. Now, maybe your kids may not take a shine to it, but if they don’t, no matter. You can have it all to yourself.

Download the app, which is free, but be forewarned that the app creators do ask for payment information up front. I assume it’s to keep it handy for future in-app purchases. I found it to be a bit of an unnerving practice, if I do say so myself, but it should be fairly harmless.

Grand Gin Rummy screenshot

Back to the app…it basically takes you back in time to a 1920’s era hotel. Here you enter to play amongst guests who are ready for a good time.

Upon opening the app, I was reeled in with the art deco layout and look. I really love the 1920’s art deco look and this just added to the attraction of the app.

There are three types of gin rummy games you can play:

  • Practice
  • Original
  • Quick
  • Oklahoma

Now, since I am not a gin rummy expert anymore, what I loved about this app was the Practice games. They let me start up a game and play at my pace, so I could remember the rules and what to do next.

Once you feel comfortable with game play, you can move onto the Original or Quick play. These can be played with a small group of players, or you can open up to a globally diverse group by playing against a myriad of online players.

It’s your choice, you can play offline or online.

Another neat feature is the ability to connect via Facebook, so you can invite folks you know to play, customizing your game to be with people you know.

After accumulating some gin rummy know-how and an abundance of points, you can partake in gin rummy seasonal leaderboards, where you will vie for top spot. Do well enough and gift your points to others, if you wish.

The only downside I could see to this app was that it seemed a little busy in terms of  what was displayed on the screen. But once you get past that and immerse yourself in the game, you forget about it and focus on what matters most.

If you like a good card game and are looking for one that does not involve gambling, then Grand Gin Rummy is the app for you. It has everything you need to have a great time, without the stress and hassle that so many other gaming apps are saddled with. Download today and make it your goto app to bring the memories of a great game alive.

Be Fit with Sportsman PRO. Workout

There are exercise apps all over the market but none are quite like this one. Losing weight can be super tough and finding the motivation to do it is even harder. Our bodies need exercise but sometimes it can be so hard to get up and do it. Sometimes the only motivation is looking in the mirror or stepping on the scale and realizing you need to lose a little bit of weight. Maybe you don’t want to lose weight but you want to get stronger, the results you look for don’t show up on the first day so it can be very hard to continue your training. There is now an app called Sportsman PRO Workout that can help you solve all of these problems!

Sportsman PRO. Workout has just been recently updated with all new features which means that it is an ever changing product. This app won’t stay the same for long, it will always be getting better! The user interface is super simple and super easy to use. A few presses of a finger and you have a whole new workout routine set up and ready to go! You can even change the colors of the interface to whatever you desire so that you continue to enjoy the look and feel of the app. The easy to set reminders with cute ringtones are also a bonus when it comes to enjoying the way the app makes you feel.

Sportsman PRO. Workout app

Now this app has a variety of workouts that you can customize, you can make your own work out lists and workouts. The type of workouts you can do include strength workouts such as push-ups, sit-ups, and squats and circuit workouts which are workouts that are preset. When you do these workouts you can have them timed and you can have your calories counted so that if you would like to lose weight you have the ability to look at your calorie output.

Every app has its flaws whether it be in its design or its content. With this app it seems that the flaw lies in its content. Although this flaw is not huge it is still something that is noticeable. While there are workouts on the app, there are not a lot. It seems that even more variety could be added to this app and that would make it better. That being said this is the free version of the app, for a few dollars more you can unlock the full version of the app. Although I have not indulged myself and gotten the full version, reading a few other reviews it seem that it would be worth checking out. So if you ever have the time you may want to open up the app and buy the full version for more workouts.

Sportsman PRO. Workout is spectacular and although it has its flaws it still comes through as being super useful when it comes to working out and getting your body moving. With this app you have a variety of tools at your disposal to lose weight, gain strength, and overall become a healthier you. So if you have the time and the motivation I would look into getting this app and getting started on the track to the new and improved body you have always dreamed of. Sportsman PRO. Workout is also available for iPhones.

Photo4 Album Scanner – Preserve Pre-Digital Photos to Share with Posterity

Social media makes it so easy and so fun to share what you are doing, wherever you are; but, what about all of those photos that you took before the digital age? Remember back in the day when there was camera film, and you had to have prints of all your pics? Now, you are left wondering how you can preserve all those photos and keep them safe where you know you will find them.

Look no more, there’s Photo4. Photo4 is an app that lets you easily scan all of your photographs instantaneously, bringing them into the digital age. The app takes all the scans and lets you organize and place them wherever you want to store them.

For a small cost of $2.99, you will save hundreds of dollars, converting printed images into their digital equivalents.

Photo4 Album Scanner

The app itself has an extremely easy to use interface. The main screen shows five icons at the bottom of the screen:

  • ALBUMS – allows you to create albums, so your scans stay organized
  • SCAN – this is where you “scan.” The app uses your device’s camera to capture the image of the photo
  • SAVE COMP – I believe this stands for “save to computer.” This allows you to save albums and individual scans to a machine or to the Cloud. All you need is WiFi.
  • ASK – lists FAQs, so if you have questions, chances are someone else has had the same, so you can see how to easily resolve issues. If your question is not listed, send the creators an email.
  • RATE – let the developers know what you think of the app. In my opinion, this is the best way to let them know the features you love, and ones that you think could use a bit of improvement. It’s a win-win for users and the app, because it provides feedback that enhances and grows the app.

When scanning your photos the app allows you lots of options to ensure that the image that is captured is clear and on point. The following features allow for this:

  • Automatic cropping of images. You can also go in and adjust the cropping to meet your needs.
  • Scan multiple images at the same time.
  • While scanning, there is a question mark icon that gives you information about how to scan.
  • Add filters and different types of effects to your images to enhance them.

I think the FAQs are awesome; however, the option to email the developers for questions not listed was a bit hidden in the list of FAQs. I would list it as an icon at the very bottom of the screen. It is currently listed smack dab in the middle of all the questions, making it hard to find.

If are like me and you have a giant box full of photos from the past that you don’t know what to do with. Download Photo4 Album Scanner now – you will have that box cleaned up in no time, and all of those photos will be preserved, safe and sound, and easily accessible by those you love.

Trail of Shadows: Origin – Trail Mystery Adventure Where You Uncover Your Own Past

Memories that are murky and indistinguishable. Clues to the past that leave questions in your mind. Get your attention? Good. Then, download Trail of Shadows: Origin. It’s an app that combines a deep storyline with mystery and adventure.

You are the main character, found in the place that is not your own. Where you are, you have no idea. The only thing you do know is that you need to get out and figure out how you even got there. As you walk through the rooms and look at the different artifacts sprinkled throughout, you will begin to bring clarity to what seems like a merging of memories and dreams, or possibly nightmares.

The app lets the player unfold a story that runs deep in the players mind. You don’t already know who you are or what has happened to you, but as you play more, you become the character that is defined by the story, and the story begins to build up around you.

For literary lovers and mystery solvers alike, this game brings a fresh new venue for gaming, altogether.

Trail of Shadows Origin app

Once you download the app, you will first see the main screen, with a background that is just as nebulous as the story itself. On the main screen, you have the opportunity to select Options which, at this time, allows you to set the music level and sound effects level. There is also the option to start a New Game, and below it, the option to Continue a game you were in the middle of. The Full Version of Origin will cost you $1.00, which is well worth the price.

Now, on to the game. Select New Game and start your adventure.

You will start out in a place that you don’t really know, but feel like you’ve been to before. It may seem like a dream that has come to reality, or it could be a place from your memories. You won’t be able to figure it out until you walk through few rooms, look at a few photos, read a few notes, and piece the mystery together.

Part mystery, part saga and part adventure, Origin will keep you on your toes, not in a physically adventurous way, but in a brain-scratching wonderment, leaving you with questions yearning to be answered, because you need them to get out and find out who you are.

The only thing I would change about the app is the lack of instructions. It would be great if it told you what kind of things to expect, how to navigate from room to room, get back to where you came from, and know what you need to do with clues that are put before you. Most of it I had to figure out through trial and error, which sometimes frustrated me and forced me to shut down.

Other than that, this game was unlike any other I’ve played before. It maintained a mysterious aura throughout, which lent skillfully to the overall effect of the app. Many other mystery and adventure games are filled with graphics and moving objects, but Trail of Shadows: Origin stayed true to natural self.
