If you are looking for a new game to download that gives you an experience that’s different from what you’ve seen so far, then I would like to introduce you to Save the Emoji. If you think emojis are fun and like to move around, the this game is something that I know you will get a kick out of.
For just $.99, you get a game that runs using augmented reality (AR), immersing you in a whole new world teeming with emojis that may be just hanging around or that may be running around, forcing you to follow! It’s worth every penny, because this game is never the same on any given day. It changes with your location, the timing of play and more.
To start, you will need to register. This requires an email address and for you to enter a password. What is nice is that you can remember your credentials, so everytime you go back in to play, all you need to tap is Login. You will have to allow the app to use your Location Services and your device’s camera, which are both essential to game play.
Be aware that each screen that comes up requires some patience for loading. I have an iPad 2017, which I find to be quite quick, but this app seemed to need more time to get things done. Just have patience, you will get to where you want to go in no time.
The game has cool background music to keep things going, but if you prefer to not listen to it, you can turn it off or adjust its volume by going to the Settings screen (see gear icon). In order to play, you will need some tools to successfully find, attract and save emojis. There is a gravity controller which slows down emojis who are trying to run away from you. There is a score velocity booster that earns you more points per emoji that you otherwise would have achieved. There is a power cell that boosts your emoji scanner power, and you have coins with which to purchase these powerful tools.
So, those are the tools and layout of the game, but the real question is how to play. It took a few tries for me to figure this one out, but the main gist of the game is to wander around, either purposefully to look for emojis or if you just happen to be out and about. While you wander, you will see emojis randomly appear on the screen. The screen will show you as a person walking over a dimmed out map. If you see an emoji, you walk towards it and save it.
Once saved, the emoji will appear on your grid, which you can see by tapping on the icon that looks like a keyboard on the main screen.
The more emojis you save, the more points you earn and the more tools you can get to help your in your quest to find and save even more emojis.
Simple in nature but entertaining just the same, Save the Emoji is a definite download for folks looking for something new to do.
