Most people you ask would say they don’t believe in fortune-telling, but if given the chance to have someone tell them a fortune or even predict something, they might give in just for the fun of it. Many actually believe in fortune tellers. Whether you are one or the other, it might be worth your while to check out Ask Fortuna. It’s an app that plays the part of a fortune teller; something you can call up and questions anytime you want.
On its own, driven by a creative randomizing engine, it shares interesting sayings and predictions that are not cookie-cutter, but most unexpected. Quotes and sayings are driven by artificial intelligence, so no two users will same the same messages or predictions. It caters to you. Which makes it feel like a personalized fortune teller, all your own. These sayings can be saved and then shared with family and friends. Some can be quite entertaining and some may be best left to yourself.
What is nice about Ask Fortuna is that it’s fun. Any time of the day, you can pick it up and ask the app to provide you with a pick-me-up or just something to lift your spirits. The interface is super simple, there’s really nothing you have to do. Simply download the app and it will automatically display a saying. If you turn the audio on, Fortuna will speak your fortune. You can also choose different voices, if you want.
Some sayings are serious, some are calming, and others will make you laugh. Overall, it’s a nice app that can draw your attention away from whatever might be on your mind, and help you focus on something else, for a while.
Saying can be saved and used in whatever you want. You can send them to others via messaging, email and many other social media channels. If your friends have the app, too, you could have a daily fortune telling share and contest, to see who’s was best.
If you liked a particular fortune, you can re-display it by typing in the Karma-code assigned to it. Each message has a unique Karma-code. These codes can be typed in from the Bookmark screen. Fortunes can be bookmarked, too. You can save up to 10 sayings.
If you want to be surprised with your fortune without having to open the app, you can setup Daily Dose. The app will then display a message once a day, on its own. They will show up in the Notification Center or in the app, and you can read them either way. Another way to get instantaneous fortunes is by shaking your device while the app is open, mimicking the old magic 8-ball some of you may be familiar with!
Seeing these random messages every so often is fun, but it would be neat if the app provided a few other features besides the messages. I am sure the creator has things in mind that I look forward to checking out in future updates.
Until then, Ask Fortuna will be my go-to for fun and entertainment and a quick inspirational source when I need something funny to reroute my outlook for the day.
