I want to give you quick heads up to let you know that smartphone app is no longer just for people. As a dog owner, you can’t give yourself all time to schedule activities for your dog. Plus, tracking activities of your dog and organizing her daily activities is itself a challenging work.
There is, luckily, an app for that. My Dog Book is just like a personal assistant for your dog. This app is free to use without any irritating ads or pop-ups. When you install it and open it then it requires you to enter the name of your dog. You can add up to 6 dog names.
The features of the app are such that you can create a profile for the dog and can add all the information related to your dog including birth date and chip info.
Once you create a profile of the dog you can schedule event and event locations for your dog from a drop-down list of common predefined events or create your own custom event.
One of the valuable features I found in the app is you can share event details to other apps and can add it to your android calendar.
So there are very fewer chances that one will miss an event of his dog.
In addition to scheduling events, it can also be used to monitor Dog’s medical history. The app has a predefined list of medical events or you can add your own custom record. Where you can record your dog’s checkup report, surgery, x-ray, and many more medical events. There is an extra drop-down list for vaccination history which contains a list of most common canine vaccinations in the United States.
Dog reports data can also be shared with other apps. You can also set up to 6 locations of your dog which you can use while creating events.
The app offers the choice to select from four different date display format so if you’re not from the United States you can format it according to your local date format.
The app allows you to back up the database so that you may not lose any data once you uninstall this app.
You can select the location on your smartphone where you want to create the backup of the data and can restore it when needed.
The app’s interface is what really won me over. There are six different color theme namely red, indigo, green, black and dark to choose from. So if you love any particular color you can change the interface into that particular color.
The only annoyance I encountered with My Dog Book is that this app does not allow me to use It in landscape mode. The display is limited to portrait mode. I am used to typing in landscape mode while entering data and landscape mode is literally helpful in typing paragraphs as it offers a wider screen for the mobile keyboard.
The entire experience is basically what technology should be about. My smart dog led me to this smart app which led me to make smarter decisions about my dog.
